Pakistan Taliban Chief Killed in Missile Attack

Baitullah Mehsud, Pakistan Taliban Chief has been killed along with his wife and several bodyguards in a missile attack. U.S. has set a 5 million dollar reward for the head Mehsud, an ally of Al Qaeda who is widely regarded in Pakistan as enemy No.1

The attack in a tribal region in northwestern Pakistan was believed to have been done by a spy plane without U.S. crew at about 1 o'clock local time Wednesday. Pakistan and the U.S. government did not confirm the attack because of the sensitivity of violation of sovereignty of Pakistan.

Some intelligence officials and earlier families that the wife confirm Mehsud was killed in a missile attack aimed at her father's house in a settlement near the village of Makeen in South Waziristan tribal region was. A Pakistani security official said that in addition to his wife Mehsud, brother and seven of his bodyguards were killed in the attack.

Mehsud declared himself as the Pakistan Taliban leader, he has grouped around 13 factions in Pakistan's northwest in 2007, and its fighters was behind a wave of suicide attacks in Pakistan and the Western troops on the border in Afghanistan. He was accused of killing Benazir Bhutto in December 2007.

U.S. missile attack in Mehsud territory in South Waziristan became more frequent after the Pakistani government ordered a military attack against him in June. Pakistani forces have also destroyed the corporate Mehsud with air and artillery attacks.

He is expected to have between 10,000 and 20,000 more warriors who fought hard with him in the mountains. Military closed roads around the Mehsud territory and many villagers had fled from the area.
